Jeannette Brown Obituary

Sister Jeannette Brown, 65, departed this life Sunday December 9, 2018 in Marion County. She was the mother of Ynigues Brown. You may visit the family at 2547 Soft Sands Ct. Marion.

Funeral services are scheduled to be held at the Effingham Baptist Church, Mullins Friday December 14, 2018 at 2:30 pm. She will be laid to rest in the Effingham Baptist Church Cemetery, Mullins.

~ Obituary~

Jeannette “Tunk” Brown was born on November 30, 1953, to Hattie G. Brown Williams and Edward Brown Jr., who both proceeded her in death.  She was educated in the public schools of Marion, South Carolina, and Jeannette was a graduate of Marion High School’s Class of 1971.  Jeannette later obtained a Certificate in Cake Decorating, and she had a deep passion and love for baking her delicious cakes that everyone enjoyed.

Jeannette was an employee of Sara Lee of Marion, South Carolina, for 27 years where she met many long-time friends. She joined Effingham Baptist Church of Mullins, South Carolina, at a young age and was still a member upon seeing her Heavenly Father.  Jeannette faithfully served as a member of the choir and the Missionary and Usher Ministries. Jeannette also worked on the Kitchen and Hospitality Committees.

Jeannette was a former member of the True Vine Temple #1351 Elks Lodge and a former member of the Order of Eastern Star (OES) #326.

Jeannette was preceded in death by her father, Edward Brown Jr.; mother Hattie G. Brown Williams; stepfather Roosevelt Williams; sister Jessie Mae Brown; and brother James E. Tisdale.

Jeannette leaves to cherish found and loving memories of her son Ynigues (Marquita) Brown of Marion, South Carolina; sister Peggy Miles of Marion, South Carolina; brother LeeVern Brown of Jacksonville, Florida; and a step-sister Debra Ann Conner of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Five grandchildren whom she loved dearly: Zhenique “Cocoa” Brown, Dionte “Taye” Foxworth-Brown, Callique Brown, Ynigues “Boo-Boo” Brown II, and Chayce Brown.  Two aunts: Laura Wormley of Trenton, New Jersey, and Edna Brown of Orlando, Florida.  Two cousins who were more like sisters to her: Mattie Miller of Union Township, New Jersey, and Barbara Byrd of Orlando, Florida.  One sister-in-law Janice Tisdale and one sister-friend Rosemary Leonard, both of Marion, South Carolina.

Loving Nieces: Dr. Gidgit Leonard, Lea K. Whitaker, Jessika Leonard, Kenyatta Tisdale, and Diedre (Kevin) Wright. One Great Niece: Ja’lea Stevenson. Loving Nephews: Quinn Stevenson, Michael Leonard, Timothy Hayes, and James Ellerbe. Great Nephews: Jameen Brown, Tyrone Whitaker Jr., and Quinn Stevenson Jr. 

Two Special God-daughters: Kristan L. Gause and Vanessa C. Wilson. Very Special Friends: Jacqueline “Ma Daw” Bethea, Emma Grice, Della A. Moore, Diane White, Sabrina Swinney, and Cynthia H. Legette.
