Obituary
I have fought a good fight… I have finished my course…I have kept the faith: henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me that day (II Timothy 4:7-8)… Mother Jannie Taylor earned her crown on Thursday, December 12, 2019 at her home on Bay Road in Britton’s Neck, SC. She was born on August 28, 1934 in Marion County to the late Richard and Joanna Rogers. She was a graduate of Bethel School in Britton’s Neck, SC.
In 1955, shortly after school she began her love story with Curtis Lee Taylor right here in their hometown of Britton’s Neck. They enjoyed their daytime rides, and truly loved doing everything together. Of their union, three sons were born; affectionately known to her as Lo, Rick, and Pete. At an early age she gave her life over to Christ and became a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church, where she was a faithful member of the Senior Choir and Kitchen Committee until her health declined. She was a member of the Hettie’s Chapter #314 Eastern Star.
Mother Taylor truly loved helping others with a smile on her face. She was a loving and dedicated person who enjoyed her family and friends immensely. She especially enjoyed her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren during visits. She also made sure to complete the holidays for her family with her homemade biscuits and famous fruit cakes.
Mother Taylor was preceded in death by three sisters, Vermella Moore, Corina Finkley, and Adrenia Hemmingway.
She leaves to cherish her memories her devoted husband of 64 years, Curtis Lee Taylor; three sons, Lorenza (Rachelle) Taylor, Ricky (Carnell) Taylor, and Montecello (Angia) Taylor, all of Britton’s Neck, SC; one brother Charlie (Jaqueline) Rogers of Mullins, SC; two sisters Lottie Ann Davis and Ozella Pressley, both of Britton’s Neck, SC; eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law Cecil (Linda) Taylor and Paul Moore; three sisters-in-law; Lethea Taylor, Esterlene Taylor of Britton’s Neck, and Barbara Taylor-Best of Mullins, SC, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
