Janie Davis Richardson

Mother Janie Richardson, 90, departed this life Friday September 6, 2019 in Horry County. She was the mother of Sherman Richardson and Malcom Richardson. You may visit the family at 3909 Socastee Blvd. Myrtle Beach, SC 29588. 

Wake services are scheduled to be held at the Jackson & McGill Memorial Chapel 612 S. Main St. Marion SC 29571, Wednesday September 11, 2019, 5:00pm - 6:00pm.

Funeral services are scheduled to be held at the White Hill Missionary Baptist Church, Gresham Thursday September 12, 2019 at 12:00 noon. She will be laid to rest in the Soul Chapel AME Church Cemetery, Gresham.

~ Obituary ~

Mrs. Janie D. Richardson was born in Gresham, South Carolina on September 2, 1929 to the late Willie and Sarah Davis. She was the seventh child to this union. The sun set in her life on September 6, 2019.

Mother Richardson was educated in the Marion County Public School System. She read her bible daily and thanked her God for giving her life, health, and strength to continue on every day. She is predeceased by three sisters, four brothers, two nieces, and one nephew.  

In 1961, Mother Richardson was united in holy matrimony to Boston Richardson, whom preceded her passing in 1993.

She accepted Christ at an early age, and attended White Hill Missionary Baptist Church, where she started the first Vacation Bible School, was a member of the senior choir, served as the church secretary and served as a Mother of the church. She was a member of the Eastern Star Kingsburg Lodge No. 182, Gresham Lady Club, and Gresham Benevolent No. 10. Mother Richardson served 40 dedicated years of service for the Little Pee Dee Usher Board.

She leaves to cherish fond memories with two loving sons, Sherman (Cynthia) Richardson of Myrtle Beach, SC; Malcolm Richardson of Myrtle Beach, S.C.  A loving and devoted sister Christine Pearson of Springfield, M.A. Five grandchildren, and one great grandchild of Myrtle Beach SC. And numerous nieces and nephews.
