Heyward Graves Obituary

Father Heyward Lee Graves, 83, departed this life Thursday June 6, 2019 in Marion County. He was the husband of Sadie Graves, the father of Mitchell Graves, Shirley Brown and father in law of Angie Graves. You may visit the family at 702 Gresham Rd. Britton's Neck , SC.

Wake services will be Friday June 14, 2019, 6pm-7pm,  Britton's Neck Lodge # 336 will be in charge of rites.

 Funeral services are scheduled to be held at the Bethel AME Church, Britton's Neck Saturday June 15, 2019  at 2:00 pm. He will be laid to rest in the Old Neck Cemetery, Britton's Neck.

~Obituary ~

Heyward Lee Graves was born to General and Julia Graves on August 5, 1935. He was the eighth child out of ten children. He gave his life to the Lord at an early age and was a member of Bethel AME Church. He passed away on Thursday June 6, 2019.

He graduated from Britton’s Neck School and was a member of the School Broad from the 1970’s to the early 1980’s. He was a hard worker who found pride in taking care of his family. He worked at Heritage Sportswear, SoPacko and retired fro Leggs (Sarah Lee Hosiery). He was a member of the Britton’s Neck Lodge # 336.

He was preceded in death by the following siblings; Sam Graves, Betty Wilson, King Graves and Frank Graves.

God blessed him with a beautiful and faithful wife of fifty eights years, Mrs. Sadie Mae Graves. In his passing he left behind his wife; Sadie Mae Graves, his loving daughter, Shirley (Leroy) Brown of Marion, SC one son; Mitchell (Angie) Graves of Gresham, SC, two sisters; Maggie Woodberry from Chicago, IL, Viola (Charles) New from Sumter, SC, three brothers-in-law; John Rogers, James (Celestine) Rogers, Event Rogers, two sisters-in-law; Mammie Rogers, Ester Mae Rogers of Gresham, SC, ten grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews that touched his heart. He had two special friends; the Watsons and Julious Dennis and other relatives and friend.
