Henry Spry Sr.

Father Henry Spry Sr., 98, departed this life on Wednesday November 21, 2018 in Marion County. He was the husband of Nettie Mae Spry. You may visit the family at 305 State St. Marion.

Funeral services are scheduled to be held at the Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church Sunday November 25, 2018 at 2:00 pm. He will be laid to rest in the Jackson & Daughters Cemetery, Marion.

~Obituary~

On November 21, 2018 after an extended illness, Henry Spry, Sr triumphantly entered into his eternal rest at Carolinas Hospital System of Marion, South Carolina. He was born in Sumter County on August 5, 1920 to the late Moses Spry Sr. and the Rosa Lewis Spry.

He was employed with Jordan Scrap Metal Company in Marion, South Carolina for most his adult working life. 

He was married to Nettie Mae McCummings Spry and they were blessed with nine children. He and Nettie also helped raised Nettie’s six siblings. 

Henry joined Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church where he was a faithful member till his health started to decline. He enjoyed the monthly visits from the Pastor and Deacons.

Henry was preceded in death by his parents (Moses Spry Sr. and the Rosa Lewis Spry); his siblings (Cenia Fletcher(sister), Willie Spry (brother), Moses Spry, Jr. (brother), James Spry (brother), grandson (Donald Legette) and great grandson (Marquis Ford II). 

Henry Spry leaves to cherish fond memories~ his wife of seventy-four years of the home: Nettie Mae Spry, his daughters: Louise Legette, Joan Spry, Rosa (Walter) McDuffie, Barbara Ann Williams, Delores Edwards, and Linda Williams, his sons: Henry (Linda) Spry, Jr., Gene (Darlene) Spry and Jerome Spry, two sister-laws, six brother-laws, twenty-four grandchildren, host of great and great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
