Gladys Sellers

Mother Gladys Sellers, 89, departed this life on Friday September 21, 2018 in Marion County. She was the mother of Clayton Seller, Doris Isreal and Emily Berry. You may visit the family at 718 Lombardy St. Marion.

Funeral services are scheduled to be held at the Bethel United Methodist Church, Marion Saturday September 29, 2018 at 3:00om. She will be laid to rest in the Devotion Gardens Cemetery, Mullins.

Obituary

For I am ready to be offered and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight. I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. II Timothy 4:6-7

Gladys Williams Sellers affectionately known as Ms. Gladys, Mama Cool was called home on September 21, 2018 in the Carolina Hospital System of Marion South Carolina. Gladys was born on August 3, 1929 to the late Julius and Lucy Ellerbe Williams in Marion South Carolina. She was the baby girl of nine siblings.

Gladys was educated in the public schools of Marion County. Her forever Clayton Sellers Sr. saw her, they fell in love and married early on. Gladys loved feeding her family and all who came over, chili dogs, corn bread, fish on friday and perleau rice. She worked at Marion High and Heritage & Glenn Sportswear. Clayton Sellers Sr. and her children were the loves of her life.

Gladys accepted Christ early in life. She was a faithful member of Bethel United Methodist Church.

Gladys was preceded in death by all her siblings and her beloved “Clayton.”

She leaves to morn her daughters; Doris (Robert) Isreal, Emily Berry (Leman) Hodges, one son; Clayton Sellers Jr.( special friend Joyce Ann Godfrey), one brother Earl Rowell, two sister-in-laws Bernice Williams, Evangeline Sellers, one brother-in-law Arlington Sellers, fourteen grandchildren, twenty -two great grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews. Her loving caregiver Suzy Scott, her children of the heart; Edward (Bird) Brown, Larry Dean Smith, Marilyn and Mona Lisa, just to name a few, a host of family and friends.
