Sis. Evelyn Bethea Goodyear,67, departed this life on Sunday April 29, 2017 at her home in Marion County. She was thee mother of Zacariah Johnson and Damion Goodyear. You may visit the family at 5516 York Rd. Marion.

Wake services are scheduled to be held at the Greater Fork Chapel AME Church 5317 Fork Chapel Rd. Marion, SC 29571 on Friday May 4, 2018, 7pm-8pm.

Funeral services are scheduled to be held at the Marion High School 1205 S. Main St. Marion SC 29571 Saturday May 5, 2018 at 1:00pm.  She will be laid to rest in the Greater Fork Chapel AME Church Cemetery, Marion.

~ A Time to Be Born ~

Sister Evelyn B. Goodyear was born in Marion County, South Carolina on February 4, 1951, to the late Boyd and Louise Bethea.  She departed this earthly life and transitioned to her new home on Sunday, April 29, 2018 from her residence in Marion County, South Carolina.

~ A Time to Grow ~

Evelyn B. Goodyear was a member of Greater Fork Chapel AME Church, Marion South Carolina, where she served faithfully and was baptized with the Holy Spirit at an early age. Sis. Goodyear was a pillar in her community, she was also known as a teacher, mother, grandmother, sister, Sunday school teacher and a host of other things.  Evelyn was also known for never saying NO to anyone.

She also continued her education by graduating from Johnakin High School, then onto college finishing at Claflin College University and South Carolina State University for her Master’s in Education. She taught at several places: Marion High School, Williams Middle School, Coker College and Francis Marion College.

Evelyn was a member of Tent #9, the Order Eastern Star and the Rose of Sharon #374 where she served in many capacities on the state and district levels. She was an active English teacher for the past forty-six years, looking to retire this upcoming June 2018. There was nothing else she loved to do but help educate kids, while watching them blossom into productive citizens, and serving her almighty God at all times.

Preceding her in death ~ two brothers: Levon Bethea, Melvin J. Bethea; a sister: Dora Alexander and her grandson: Savion Johnson.

Evelyn leaves to cherish her love, legacy and memories ~ four sons: Zachariah E. (Tonia)  Johnson of Orangeburg, SC, Edward Riley of Columbia, SC, Otis Goodyear Jr. of Florida, Damion Goodyear of Marion, SC; a special son: Nyeem McDaniels of Columbia, SC; her siblings: Bill (Sharon) Nelson of Mullins, SC, Mary L. Johnson of Pennsylvania,   Jerry Bethea of Myrtle Beach, SC; her grandchildren: Zarria Johnson, Matthew Riley, Kobe Goodyear, Ramico, Rashad, and Raheem Johnson; her special daughters: Teresa Gause, Tammy Gause, Allison Gause; a special son: Dion Gause, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and loving friends.
