Doretha Davis

Sister Doretha Davis, age 76, departed this life on Sunday, September 29, 2019. She was the mother of Sharon, Duncan, and Randy Davis. You may visit the family at 1806 Foxworth Rd. Marion.

Funeral services are scheduled to be held at the New Greater Singletary AME Church, Wahee, Friday October 4, 2019 at 3:00 pm. She will be laid to rest in the Greater Singletary AME Church Cemetery, Wahee.

~ Obituary ~

Doretha was born in Marion, SC on October 1, 1942. She was the second born to the late Duncan Davis and Christa Sanders Davis.

She attended Marion County School. She also did Agricultural, Housekeeping and worked at Russell Stovers Candies.

Doretha was a member of the New Greater Singletary AME Church, where she served as an Usher and Missionary. She also served on the Adult Choir and was a former member of the Star Bethlehem Tent #30.

Doretha loved flowers and working in the yard. She also loved to sew.

Doretha was preceded in death by three siblings: Barnette Sellers, Martha Davis and Duncan Davis Jr.

She leaves to cherish her legacy and memories with her three children; Duncan E. (Cynthia) Davis, Sharon A. Davis and Rodney L. Davis, five grandchildren: Ashley Davis, Shanita Brown, Bradley Brown, Rodney Brown and Mykala Page of the home. Seven siblings: Hazeltine Davis, Christa M. (Alvin) Edwards, Brenda (Isiah) Wilson, Katherine D. Hyatt, Lizzie A. Prioleau, Rufus Davis and Lee Edward (Alberta) Davis, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. 

Her special song was “I prayed and I prayed, until I found the Lord. My Soul just would not rest contented, until I found the Lord.”
