~ Obituary ~

Revelation 21:4 “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.”

Darren Benard McCummings also know as “Tootsie” was born on October 04, 1967, in Marion, South Carolina to Arthur McCummings and the late Rachel McCummings. “Tootsie” as many know, departed this earthly life on Friday, September 27, 2019 at the McLeod Regional Medical Center, Florence, South Carolina after a brief illness.

Darren attended the public schools of Marion County, South Carolina. He was a graduate of the class of 1987. Darren was an active member of the Marion High School varsity football team, trade team, student bus deriver, and was employed with Coca-Cola bottling during the summer and after graduating. Darren later obtained his CDL and became an OTR truck driver and began his career with Sean Trucking Company, Newberry South Carolina, Building Express and others, until a car accident took place.

Darren was a resilient man no matter what hardships he faced, he always bounced back, no nonsense: efficient, direct, and quiet tough, now that sums up Darren. Who do you know that can give turn by turn directions from the bed, no GPS or map? A real trucker indeed. Who else will tell you off and ask you to go to the store for them in the same breath, only Darren. He gave out tough love but you better believe he was protective and loving to those closest to him. He was known for his athleticism, his one of a kind personality and charming smile. Darren touched the lives of many and will forever live on in out hearts. Still, I say the strongest man we know!!!

Proceeding him in death, his Mother Rachel McCummings, brother William Powell Jr., and Uncle Henry Spry.
