Mr. Comous Lee Reaves 69, departed this life on Sunday April 30, 2017 in Mullins SC. He was the fiancée Kay Sondra Hamlin, the father of Kimberly Blackwell, the brother of Rosa Graham, Mattie Reaves, Hattie Reaves, Patricia Reaves Orie, Charles Reaves and Chester Reaves. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:30pm Sunday May 7, 2017 at the Jackson & McGill Memorial Chapel, Marion. He will be laid to rest in the Jackson & Daughters Cemetery, Marion. Friends of the family are kindly asked to serve as flower and pall bearers.

Comous Reaves was born on October 21, 1947 in Marion South Carolina. On April 30, 2017 God called his son home; your work has been done.

He graduated from Johnakin High School, class of 1968. After graduation Comous moved to Baltimore Maryland, where he worked with Bethal Steel Company. Comous lived in Maryland for over forty years. After retiring he moved back to Marion County to live out the rest of his days.

Comous knew and accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior. He had a love for the word of God and understood that this world would bring trials and tribulations. But he knew as long as he kept his faith, God would always have the final say. Comous maintained his dignity and independence as a respectful and loving person. He spoke in a manner where you understood exactly what he was saying. He and his brother’s affectionately joked about everything, making sure his brother’s knew he was the BIG DOG.

Comous was married for nineteen years to a loving and devoted wife Kay Hamlin. She cared and stood by his side for nineteen years, even in sickness she remained faithful and dedicated to Comous. Kay was his best friend, his wife and his care giver. Her commitment to Comous was a love that only God could have made.

Comous was preceded in death by his father and mother Comous and Azerlee Reaves, his son Stanley Cornell Reaves, his sisters Betty Ann Little and Mae Bell Reaves, his brothers Rudolph Reaves and David Reaves, two brothers in law Charles Little and Gene Graham.

Left to cherish his memories; his wife Kay Hamlin, his daughter Kimberly (Archie) Blackwell, his daughter in law Treva (the late Stanley) Reaves, five grandchildren; Autumn, Kole and Khendal Blackwell, Ryan and Reagan Reaves all from Maryland, his sisters Rosa (the late Gene) Graham, Hattie Reaves, Mattie Mae Reaves all of Marion South Carolina, Patricia (Elliott) Orie of Jacksonville FL., a sister in law Eula Mae Clay of Maryland, his brothers Charles (Cora Bell) Reaves of Marion SC, Chester (Shirley) Reaves of Oak Harbor Washington, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
