Calvin Lee Sanders Sr.

Bro. Calvin Sanders, 73, departed this life Friday February 8, 2019 at his home in Marion County. He was the husband of Lillie Sanders. You may visit the family at 314 South Pine St. Marion. 

Funeral services are scheduled to be held at the Bethlehem Baptist Church Friday February 15, 2019 at 2:00 pm. He will be laid to rest in the Jobs Cemetery, Marion.

Obituary

Bro. Calvin Lee Sanders, Sr., son of the late Preston and Ida Beatrice Sanders, was born in Marion, South Carolin on Monday, July 30, 1945.

Calvin attended the public schools of Marion County. He always put Jesus Christ first in his life and joined the late Sarah and Joseph Mason’s Holiness Church located in Ellerbe Heights. He later joined New Jerusalem Holiness Church where his pastor was Mary E. Johnson. He loved gospel music. He especially loved the song by Tommy Ellison called “Lord, I Thank You”. He loved playing his guitar and rejoicing in the Lord. He was employed at Russell Stover’s Candies for 33 years. He will always be remembered for being a great husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to others.

On Friday, February 8, 2019, Calvin departed this life to join all those who preceded him in death. Those who transitioned before him include his two brothers, five sisters, five brothers-in-law, and one sister-in-law: James Preston Sanders, Edward Thompson, Mammie Ruth Woodberry, Bernice Sanders, Julia Evelyn Sanders, Lillie Mae Leonard, Albertha Graves, Roosevelt Leonard, Robert Huff, Rev. John T. Godbolt, Nathaniel Godbolt, Johnnie Johnson and Susan Fore. He will also join one grandchild: Precious Marie Ingram.

Those left to cherish the fond and loving memories of Calvin include his devoted, loving and caring wife: Lillie Sanders; three daughters: Erika (Bo) Vandroff, Angela (Ricky) Sanders, Sholonda Sanders; two sons: Calvin Lee (Marie) Sanders III and Marco Sanders; four brothers: Gene Edward ( Juanita) Sanders , Harvey ( Mary Alice) Sanders, Sr., Boyd Elijah ( Solistine) Sanders, Sr., Andrew Sanders all of Latta, SC; one sister: Laura (Stacy)  Johnson of Latta, SC, four sisters-in-law: Mary Elizabeth Johnson of Sellers, SC, Mable (Charlie) Walters of Alexander, VA and Stella Godbolt of Virginia and Sue Sanders of Latta, SC; seventeen grandchildren, three great-grandchildren as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
