~ Obituary ~

“The Lord our God be with us, as he was with our fathers: let him not leave us, nor forsake us.” 1King 8:57

Arthur Lee Davis affectionately known as “Junior” was born to the late Arthur Davis and Earnestine D. Davis on April 23, 1951 in Marion County. “Junior” was the oldest son of eight children.

Arthur receiving his formal education in the Marion County School District, graduating from Terrell’s Bay High School, Class of 1970.  “Junior” moved to Jersey City, New Jersey and  in 1973 he married his High School Sweetheart Lille Ruth “Carolyn” Davis of Rains South Carolina, who preceded him in death. “Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, And obtaineth favour of the LORD.”  Proverbs 18:22. Unto their union two children were born, baby boy Jarrod and Nicholas whom their parents loved dearly.

June 26, 2019 after being a warrior and fighting a good fight “Junior” was called from Labor to Reward in Florence, South Carolina. However, before this day, “Junior contributed so much to his family, his church, his community and his friends.  He was an avid sports fan, playing basketball under the leadership of Coach Taft Watson; the love of sports stayed with him; even in his weakest moments he found the strength to watch basketball, baseball and whatever else caught his interest when it came to competitive events. He gave so much laughter and joy to all of those that came in contact with him, he made you feel better just by being around him. “Junior” worked as hard as he played. After years in New Jersey “Junior” and Carolyn decided to move back home to Rains, SC where he found enjoyment being around his family and friends.  Employed by Wellman Industries for years, a lover of the outside and the “gift of gab” working with ACE Rental Inc. allowed him to meet new people and make new friends, which he enjoyed.

Arthur’s Christian life began as a young child in his family church Friendship AME in the Friendship Community.  His Christian walk directed him as a young man to join and become a dedicated member of The Anointed Church of Deliverance in Mullins, SC under the pastoral guidance of Bishop Dr. Eugene and First Lady Brenda Park, there he served in many capacities, more especially as Deacon, serving and supporting the Pastor and the congregation at all times.  His faith in God allowed him to always see things in a positive light, he was never one to complain, even if he could; never one to whine, even when it would have been  easy to do so.  He was a warrior, a thinker, a worker and most of all a friend.

Arthur was preceded in death by his Father-in-Law, Jake Howard; Mother-in-Law, Minnie Ruth Davis; son Jarrod, and Sister Laura Phillips Hughes.

He leaves to cherish his son whom he adored Nicholas, of the home.  Four grandchildren; Nicholas Jr., Jamarion, Jacari, Destiny, all of Marion SC; two great grandchildren Kaiden and K’aycen both of Marion, SC; five sisters, Lula Davis, Annette Jones, both of Gresham, SC; Arabelle (Lee) Ellerbe, Linda (Walter) James both of Lithonia, GA, Sabrina Davis of Marion, SC, one Brother, Murray Davis of Gresham, SC. One Brother-in-Law Ronnie Davis, of Rains, SC; one aunt Allene Davis Eaddy of Centenary, SC  and a host of nieces, nephews,  other relatives and friends.
