Mother Alene Lester 90, departed this life on Friday September 15, 2017 in Marion County. She was the mother of Willie Mae Brantley, Diane Knowlin, JoAnn Abram, Claretta Nelson, William Lester Jr., and Robert Lester. You may visit the family at 2002 West Hwy 76, Marion.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00pm Wednesday September 20, 2017 at the Greater Singletary AME Church, Wahee. She will be laid to rest in the Greater Singletary AME Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Alene Moody Lester daughter of the late George and Lue Moody was born on June 22, 1927.

She departed this life on Friday September 15, 2017 at the Carolina Hospital System of Marion.

Alene joined Greater Singletary AME Church at an early age. She was also a devoted member of the Star of Bethlehem Tent #30 and Bright Star #212 Order of the Eastern Star.

Alene was employed by the Marion County School District and retired from there.

Alene met and married the late William P. Lester Sr. To this union seven children were born. She was preceded in death by her daughter Mary Sanders, grandson Kenneth Brantley, two sisters Rachel and Carrie Bell, three brothers Augustus, George Jr. and Willie.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories four daughters; Willie Mae Brantley, Diane (Marvin) Knowlin,  Joan Abram, and Claretta Nelson, two sons William P. Lester Jr. and Robert (Mary) Lester, one son she reared as her own Roosevelt Inman Jr., seven sister in laws, three brother in laws and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
