~Obituary~

"Sometimes it's hard to understand why some things have to be, but in his hands wisdom, God had planned beyond our power to see. So looking back in tenderness along the path we've trod; we cherish the years we had with you, and leave the rest to God..."

Mother Ola Mae Reed, 89, was born on October 4, 1928 in Marion County, SC to the late Monroe Jefferson Davis and Capitola Cochran Davis. She entered into eternal rest on Sunday November 26, 2017 in the Carolina Hospital Systems in Marion. SC.

Ola Mae received her early Christian training and nurturing at Saint James AME Church in Marion County, SC in the Ariels Crossraoad Community, where she became a member.

Ola Mae was a graduate of Whitmore High School in Conway, SC. She also attended Allen University in Columbia, SC. On May 25, 1948, Ola Mae was joined in holy matrimony to the late Zack R. Reed.

Ola Mae was a very lovable and caring person; one you could not help but love. She would do whatever she could for you. She later moved to Brooklyn, New York and lived there for over thirty years and worked at Pyramid Handbags Company for over thirty years. While there she attended Greater Mount Pleasant Baptist Church and in 1993, she returned back home to care for her mother.

Upon returning home, she became involved again at St. James AME Church as a member of the Gospel Choir, Class Leader, member of Joint Stock, member of Stevenson Chapter #316 OES, member of the Senior Ministry and member of the Women Missionary Society. She attended Church faithfully until her health began to fail.

Mother Ola Mae leaves to cherish her fond and loving memories ~one sister; Hallie Berta Graham; one aunt; Frances Brunson; a nephew, who was like a son to her; Ret. Captain Isaiah Heyward III; one god-daughter; Bertal Kilkelly; two very dear friends; Catherine Williams and Arthur Lee Godbolt, all of whom will miss her dearly and a host of many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
