Leola Eaddy Obituary

Mother Leola Eaddy,86, departed this life on Friday March 23, 2018 in Florence, County. She was the mother of Jerith Eaddy and Christine Hollie.

Wake services are scheduled to be held at the Jackson & McGill Memorial Chapel on Tuesday March 27, 2018, 6pm-8pm.

Funeral services are scheduled to be held at the Bethlehem Baptist Church, Marion on Wednesday March 28, 2018 at 2:00pm. She will be laid to rest in the Devotion Gardens Cemetery, Mullins.

“A time to be born”   Leola Wright Eaddy was born to the late Ollie and Annie Howard Wright on January 18, 1932 in Marion, South Carolina.

“A time to love”  Leola was joined in holy matrimony to the later Jasper Eaddy on December 23, 1962. 

“A time to plant”   Their love was shared with their two children, Christine and Jerith Levon. They both were parental figures and mentors to a host of young people to include siblings, family members and former students.

“A time of conversion, service, and ministry”   Leola was converted and baptized at an early age and became a member of the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Marion, South Carolina. She served faithfully on the Widowers, Deaconess, and Women’s Missionary Society ministries until her health declined. She also served her community as a member of Lily of the Valley #264 Order of the Eastern Star.

“A time to build up” Leola’s early educational development took place at Marion County Training School, Marion, South Carolina where she graduated in 1951.  She later matriculated at the Roper Hospital School of Practical Nursing, Charleston, SC and earned numerous certifications through her career. In addition, she operated a successful baking and floral design business for many years.

“A time for reward and replenish” After more than thirty years of service in health care at Finger Clinic and Marion Memorial Hospital, Leola retired from nursing in 1984.

“A time to die”  She departed this life on March 23, 2018 at McLeod Regional Healthcare System.

“A time to mourn” Her home going has and will continue to have a tremendous impact on many lives. She leaves to cherish her memory her two children; son Jerith (Susan) Eaddy of the home, and  Christine (Ronald) Hollie of Jamaica Queens, New York; grandchildren Jennifer, Niyah, Alexis, Jerith Jr., Jacire, and Jaylana; great-grandchild, Gabrielle Olivia; sister, Esther (Charles) Floyd of Spartanburg, SC.; brother, Roscoe Wright of the home; a friend who was like a sister, Margaret H. Wade; sister-in-law, Virgina (Charles) Martin of Marion, SC; special friends with whom she shared close 50+ year friendships, Claretha Conner, Evelyn Irick and Catherine  Johnson; and many loving and devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, special neighbors, friends, and colleagues.
