Bro. Larry Floyd 71, departed this life on Friday July 28, 2017 in the McLeod Hospice House, Florence, SC. He was the father of Christopher Floyd. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00am Thursday August 3, 2017 at the Jackson & McGill Memorial Chapel, Marion. He will be laid to rest in the Florence National Cemetery, Florence South Carolina.

Sgt.. Larry Floyd Sr. was born in Marion County South Carolina to the late Sarah McCummings Floyd on Tuesday January 22, 1946.

He was raised in Marion South Carolina, where he attended their public schools and graduated from Johnakin High School.

Sgt. Larry Sr. lived in New York City, New York as well as Philadelphia PA. after school he served in the United States Army. He was stationed in Fort George Meade Maryland and served in Korea.  He was awarded the medals. After he was honorably discharged he continued to serve his country as a police officer in both Marion South Carolina and Philadelphia PA.

In his later years he became a Master Carpenter known for his quality work throughout the community.

During his lifetime he met and married Mary Ann Johnson. They shared three children; Larry Jr., Christopher and Annie Louise.

Sgt. Larry Sr. was preceded in death by two sisters; Annie Louise Floyd and Loretta Floyd, one brother Lorenzo Floyd and his loving wife Mary Ann Johnson Floyd.

He leaves to cherish his fond and loving memories his children Larry Floyd Jr. of Columbia South Carolina, Christopher Floyd of Newport News, Virginia and Annie Louise of Philadelphia PA. Six grandchildren and a host of other family members.
