Mother Baby Ruth Mason-Johnson, 88, departed this life on Monday December 11, 2017 in Florence County. She was the mother of Hallie Staggers, Betty Shaw, Ella Robinson and Janet Murphy. You may visit the family at the home of her daughter Janet Murphy at 425 Drew Road, Mullins.

Funeral services are scheduled to be held at the True Faith Deliverance Temple, Mullins, Saturday December 16, 2017 at 1:00pm. She will be laid to rest in the Devotion Gardens Cemetery, Mullins.

Mrs. Baby Ruth Mason was born July 27, 1929 in Marion County, South Carolina to the late Freddie Williams and Lillian Leonard. She departed this life on Monday December 11, 2017 in the McLeod Hospice House in Florence, South Carolina.

Mrs. Mason was a life-long member of the Mullins Community. She was employed with Marvel Lighting Corp. of Mullins for twenty eight years, where she received Employee of the month and other awards.

She was saved at an early age and was and inspiring member of Ellen’s Chapel Holiness Church of Mullins. She also worked and served with dignity and grace at Mill Creek Baptist Church, while helping other ministries and anointed she joined Mt. Ararat Baptist Church, Mullins, SC., under the leadership of Rev. Curtis Campbell, she always called him her “Preacher”.

She owned and operated her own restaurant called Baby Cake Country Kitchen on Park. St. in Mullins. Her passion and love for cooking and baking was known by many. Her life was build around helping people and praising God. Serving God always brought joy to her life and to the lives of those she ministered to.

She was preceded in death by one son; James Mason.

She leaves to cherish fond memories her children; Betty R. (Joseph) Shaw of Lake Wales, Fla., Ella J. (Craig) Robinson of Augusta, Ga., Janet Murphy of Mullins, and Hallie (Donald) Staggers of Mullins. Mrs. Mason also leaves to cherish to mourn sixteen grandchildren, seventeen great grands and five great great-grands. Her siblings; Willie M. Hamilton of Ca., Cornelius McCray, Barbara Reaves and Lonzo Leonard all of Mullins and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mrs. Mason cared for a number of children under the Mentor Foster Care Program for Marion County SC.
